Janet DePratti

Jan is a fine artist working in oil, acrylic with cold wax medium, and watercolor. Her work is deeply inspired by the natural world—from her childhood in the Adirondack Mountains to summers spent along Lake Hayward, and her current home in Richmond, where she explores the trails of the James River. Through her paintings, Jan seeks to capture the thrill, mystery, awe, and quiet magic of nature—those fleeting, immersive moments that stir both emotion and memory.
Jan holds a BA in Biology from SUNY Oswego and a BFA in Graphic Design from University of Connecticut. Her background in science and design informs her artistic perspective, blending observation with expression to create work that is both grounded and evocative.
She served as President of the Manchester CT Art Association for three years and has exhibited her work throughout the Hartford, CT region. Her paintings have been recognized with various awards, reflecting both her technical skill and her ability to convey the emotional resonance of the natural landscape.
